🦿 Lucian Marin I only watched two matches from FIFA World Cup: Argentina - Saudi Arabia and Argentina - France. I witness the most amazing comeback from Leo Messi.

Cole Hudson Is the United States more religious than Europe? My understanding is that Europe is broadly-but-casually religious whereas the US is specifically-but-actively religious, e.g. France vs the Bible Belt. Curious because I heard an argument attributing the prevalence of religion as inversely proportional to the size of a societies social safety net.

Anon T. Those strongly religious people are mostly in the South and Midwest. Anything along the coasts is less religious too.

👨‍💻 Matthieu V. Do you know any way to do some paid "contracts" in OSS ?
🎼 Jean-Michael Celerier A way for me is to work with public universities - at least in france they are pretty happy to fund OSS that way

😃 Javier Is there is such thing as national US news site that is not politically biased?
Jayden Wire services are as close as you're going to get. Agence France-Presse, Associated Press, Reuters. They're in the journalism business. They get news and then sell it to all of the "news" companies that then smear their bias all over it to make their readership more outraged, smug, happy, whatever emotions get them the most riled up and likely to keep coming back.

🦿 Lucian Marin This is why I like Sublevel. I get a little context on everything. If I don't, I can ask. I will love to visit Saint-Tropez, heck, I will love to visit any part of France.
☕ David Antoine South of France is beautiful, I'll probably go back there next year. If not, I'm thinking about going to Italy at the Como lake...

☕ David Antoine Welcome back to Sublevel! I post (again) the first photo I've posted on Subcafe... I was in the St-Tropez area a few weeks ago, those were two of many of the sailing boats that were there for the annual "Voiles of Saint-Tropez" racing event. Hard to go back to work and stress after that...

Martijn First France, now Turkey, what is going on this weekend!?
😀 Tom I don't know, but that's the first time I've seen ? and ! combined into one character before. Usually I just type something like this?! Or to express more questioning astonishment, this?!?!?!
🦿 Lucian Marin Just one FaceTime call has saved the "democracy" last night. Now it seems kind of crazy that Turkey still blocks parts of the internet.

Mark Dain Isn't democracy just mob rule to an extent? Still, I'm not sure a better system exists. It seems some leave voters are doing it because they don't like immigration but this isn't a referendum on immigration so I suspect they won't be happy even if they get their way. So we could be worse off financially and still have a pissed off racist minority.
Adam Douglas Yup. I'd actually be a little uncomfortable with living among \a majority\ of racists and xenophobes. I already struggle to identify with people enough, and I honestly wouldn't want to be counted as a member of a Pro-Brexit Britain. If it does happen, I might consider becoming a migrant myself and moving to soon-to-be-independent Scotland or Republic of Ireland. I'm a quarter Scottish and Irish, and I have some connections in France and Malta, but I never felt anything but English--until this referendum.

Asko P. Going on an Eurotrip starting July 12. Estonia > Latvia > Lithuania > Poland > Germany > The Netherlands > Belgium > France > Spain > Italy. All by hitchhiking and/or cheap trains. Going to be awesome!
Martijn expect to be working and thus home the whole summer. If you want to meet up when you hit the Netherlands, let me know!

Adam Douglas I did, but I was very much hoping I would be wrong. Bulgaria, France and Spain were my favourites. Even Cyprus with Xerxes at the helm were all right. Of course my wife felt pity for Ukraine and made me cast a vote for them Ukraine too. /Sigh. I mean Crimea is tragic but it's a bit contrived for the West to take pity on Crimea after Iraq/Afghanistan/others.
Martijn I liked France too. Australia and Russia weren't too bad either, well deserved spots at the top. Ukraine was a total surprise to me because I don't go for the type of music at all. Would have sooner given my vote to Russia, although politically I would never consider backing them.

Martijn I watch every year. One week per year I go 100% gay stereotype, filling my Facebook feed with comments about dresses and choreography. I never expected Ukraine to win though.

Martijn As requested by , what is happening in the Netherlands: More police presence on major transit points: Amsterdam Central Station, Utrecht Central Station. International trains heading for Belgium and France have been cancelled completely. Border stations (e.g. Arnhem) have extra police patrols and customs is keeping n extra strict watch on who comes in by train. Schiphol Airport has upped security and is trying to cope with rerouted flights (planes that were supposed to land in Brussels). Around parliament in The Hague the guards now stand with visible automatic weapons in hand.
