🦿 Lucian Marin X is now Facebook. Threads is filled with Instagram people who don't like to write. Basically, Subreply is the new Twitter.
🙂 Roy Threads has been making waves online. Yet another Twitter alternative on the long list of alternatives. Apparently, users can't delete their Threads account without nuking Instagram as well. i wonder if they've heard of Pixelfed
Jayson Austero Have you ever tried Instagram? It's one of the most popular messaging apps nowadays. Teens found Instagram more appealing because they can send private messages using the app. If you're a parent who wants to protect your child from online predators who are hunting teens for their sexual activities, then try to read this one; My Child has Instagram! 😀 Tom This is the second story I'm reading where everybody instantly has access to everyone's complete digital life, secrets and all. In both stories, the world goes crazy and seems to break down. I wonder if it would actually happen that way. Probably.
🦿 Lucian Marin You already have access to anyone work history on LinkedIn and exactly what they worked on. Most important life moments are on Instagram. Code that all computers run on is public on GitHub. World's richest man spent his money on tweets and memes. We live in a Black Mirror episode or simply the 21st century.

🦿 Lucian Marin I want to add social links to profiles. What other social networks do you use?
🐓 Mega I think twitter would be a big one, and maybe reddit would be good to add. Not sure if instagram/facebook would fit but idk.

🐵 Max I was looking for an RSS reader for a specific blog, and my first reaction was to search on subreply. So I saw your post and I just started using it. However I never used RSS feed before and I don't really what I could use fraidycat for, except for this particular blog.
🧐 Nrmn Great that my random question was of some use after all. You can follow much more than just RSS feeds with it, which is why I like it so much. I follow people on Instagram, Twitter, Mastodon and Twtxt via Fraidycat.

Ganesh Khade What chrome extensions/firefox extensions do you use?
💻 Kenneth Jensen uBlock Origin and uMatrix, chromium. The WWW is much more pleasant. "Inspect element" is also underrated for fixing fonts or deleting pop-ups and notifications and e-stalking social media without an account (cough Instagram).

🧉 Martin Having spent far too much time sitting down recently, I finally decided to buy a standing desk converter. I love it, and it even comes with an awesome new wood smell :) instagram.com/p/CC...

Ganesh Khade What chrome extensions/firefox extensions do you use?
🔻 Trinity I have a number installed in Firefox, which is probably a bad habit: Wayback Machine, User Agent Switcher, Tampermonkey, ClearURLs, Hoxx VPN, WebRTC Leak Shield, uBlock Origin, Dark Reader, SponsorBlock, Lastpass, unPaywall, Downloader for Tiktok, MEGA, SingleFile, and Download Picture from Instagram. I do use all of them though. I have more but they're so numerous I couldn't go through them all in one comment.

😶 Pipas_ Do you think new websites like this are ever going to break people's reliance on the big players like FB/Twitter or are they always destined for smaller and niche communities?
🎯 Gallium Oxide You cannot defeat the big players' entrenched network effects by taking them head-on. Instagram and TikTok didn't set out to copy FB; they targeted a particular demographic that was looking to post and share a particular kind of content. Subreply has to find its own product-market fit first, then gradually evolve the product to obtain more and more users while keeping the existing users happy.

💸 Jumar Martin It's not "Fear of Missing Out," I barely use social media for that purpose. It might be more of a "having a presence, somewhere" feeling than anything else. If everyone else has a presence then you're behind and as such, miss out on opportunities that could be most favorable to your future.
🎣 Fish in my eyes youre pretty much dancing with fomo here but I understand. Due to certain similar opportunities my life has progressed and changed in beautiful ways but that doesn't mean you have to be on that network forever. If instagram gave me a lovely year due to connection, next year maybe going for walks will do that. Opportunities are not only online

☕ David Antoine I understand. We can still upload pics to imgur or equivalent and share the link... Would you go back to the initial 640 text limit ? ;)
🦿 Lucian Marin I want to use imgur or Instagram APIs to display the photos inline. It needs to be optional. It should be possible to go back to 640, no need for shot image captions.
