😀 Tom After assembling all my open tab URLs from Firefox for Android that I saved over the past two or three years, deduplicated them, and deleted the garbage URLs, I have over 11,000 URLs I've saved from my phone. 7,000 of them are just from HN alone.

🐥 Jacob Chapman You could open a small number of URLs each day. Here is how I do it on the desktop github.com/chapmanjacobd/computer/blob/main/.config/fish/functions/opentabs.fish on Android github.com/chapmanjacobd/phone/blob/main/.shortcuts/tasks/open-browser.sh and here is how I sort my tabs: pip install xklb && library cluster-sort tabs.txt sorted_tabs.txt

😀 Tom holy f... I had over 4,100 tabs open in Firefox for Android. I had to copy them out in groups of 100 so I didn't crash the app.

Nick Silvestri I never understand people who can browse like that! I never have more than 20 tabs open at a time on desktop, and 10 on mobile. I recently got the Tree Tab extension thinking it would help me in those moments when I have quite a few tabs, but I've gotten good enough at managing my tab volume that it doesn't even give me much value.

🦿 Lucian Marin Firefox brand is weak, it's associated with IE era and it's dropping market share like crazy. Mozilla brand got a nice refresh, it's trusted, it's associated with privacy and they got new good products that need to carry Mozilla brand. It should be Mozilla Suite for a new internet age: Mozilla Browser, Mozilla VPN, Mozilla Monitor and so on. This way the browser will be their main product, it will have internal focus and probably gain back the market share.

☝️ Jean-David Moisan That's really interesting! Though I don't really associate Firefox with those other products. Makes the browser seem bloated. I disable all the extras that I can.

🦇 Arr Since 50 % of users don't know what a browser is, let's call it Mozilla Internet. The last rename of Firefox is now Firefox "Quantum" was cited on tech pages a lot, though.

🤘 Matthew I've found that I like using uMatrix in Firefox, even though it's no longer under active development. It's nice to have cookies, JS, CSS, and images blocked by default and to be able to opt in.

🦿 Lucian Marin Opera has a dark mode switcher. OS switcher should work too.

😀 Tom Somehow I always forget to backup my Firefox open tabs when resetting my phone. I'm not devastated that I lost them though, so maybe I don't really need all those saved/open tabs?

🚴 Aditya I'm actually tempted to try dwm next time I start from scratch (probably some time next year). How hard was it to get something usable going? For reference, I currently use i3 and my GUI reliance is due to firefox, vlc, and a couple of messaging applications.
