Developers these day prefer an async framework like FastAPI combined with Tortoise ORM. I asked Argon if we will gain any speed if we switch: switching to Falcon ASGI + Tortoise ORM would likely offer no real-world speedup (and could be slower per request) compared to Gunicorn + Django ORM + PgBouncer. With PgBouncer pooling local connections and fast indexed queries, I/O wait time is tiny--async event-loop and Python object-hydration overhead in Tortoise outweighs concurrency gains.

Python will get a JIT starting with version 3.13 (tonybaloney.github...), but it will not be enabled by default. It's a good time to be a Python developer.

The kit is $50 USD, and it will get OS updates for another year, and I think security updates for another 2 years after that (and I can get OS updates if I go with something like CaylxOS). I will keep my eye out for Pixel 8, and hopefully they'll come out with a device that's no bigger than the Pixel 5 is. I want to use my phone one-handed! Why can't they make a "small" (normal size) phone!?

I changed the way unfeeder.com fetches articles. It's faster, new articles every couples of minutes. It doesn't depend on the Facebook API any longer. I can provide a JSON API for iOS and Android developers.

It would probably be fairly advantageous to game engines if they developed a simpler, quick language (say Lua) targeting a high-level subset of said engine's functionality. In terms of on-boarding new developers, I wonder how many kids/teens churn due to some combination of not understanding C# or Unity's docs. Roblox seems to demonstrate there's value in doing this.
