Nolan Working in the covid-19 crisis unit, more and more people are getting infected within our personal environment. We're just enough healthy personnel left to keep up the work and are preparing for a 'working-lockdown', meaning that we don't leave the base and build shower containers and beds to rotate in a 24/7 shift system. The impacts are getting closer.

Zero Edge Before conversing with a person about covid anymore I am going to ask two questions. What % of people that catch covid go to the hospital? What % of people that catch covid die? After they answer those questions I will be able to judge their level of brainwashed and understand their point of view better. Still seeing people with the most insanely inflated numbers I have ever seen and it's pure frustration when the same people are pointing to others and saying "they are misinformed". Some of us have actually looked at the studies in-depth and not just watched the "news".

Zero Edge The fact that no government has begun investing in N95 manufacturing just screams incompetence. Guess what provides better immunity than a vaccine? A N95 MASK! Guess what works regardless of what virus is going around? A N95 MASK! Guess what can stop ANY PANDEMIC IMMEDIATLY. N95 MASKS! Seriously, this not only helps the current situation but prepares you for ALL future pandemics with out having to develop a new vaccine each time which takes upwards of a year. If you had a stockpile of N95 masks when all of this started we would be living in a different world today. INVEST IN THE NOW AND INVEST IN THE FUTURE.
🦿 Lucian Marin We tried this before vaccines. It didn't work. Vaccines work a bit better, but they aren't a cure. We need Covid medicine.

Zero Edge If you are still afraid of covid even after getting your shot, wear a mask that works (N95 or better). Stop making everyone that trusts their shot or immune appease your level of irrational fear. covid hospitalization is under 1% yet the majority of people think its over 50%. When there is that wide of a disconnect from reality I can no longer take your fears seriously. Plus, honestly the mask will provide more protection (from catching covid) than the vaccine. Be informed.

Zero Edge I don't understand the idea of vaccinating low risk individuals while having minimal long term data. I believe it is a choice that each individual should make for themselves but to me it seems like the high risk are placing their burdens on the low risk. The low risk have to inherit more risk to protect the high risk. Why?
☕ David Antoine One of our politicians in Belgium said that the unvaccinated should examine their conscience for basically putting vaccinated people at risk. In practice, one vaccinated will be safe in general while still possibly getting sick and transmitting the virus. If anything, they are a danger to the unvaccinated now. As to why? Well, $55bn for Pfizer this year, $40bn for Moderna just in "COVID market". Not sure it is still about heath at this point, contracts are signed for 2022.

Zero Edge Most people being labeled as "anti-vax" are not that. They are against taking a "new" drug that does not have long term data associated with it. If you told this same group "take the flu shot and you won't have to worry about covid" a lot of them would take it, no problem. The "hesitancy" has nothing to do with not "trusting the science", it has everything to do with long term data. Mandates for a drug less than 1 yr old = pride -> "An attack on me is an attack on science."

Zero Edge Simple logic: A vaccinated person is less likely to feel symptoms of Covid. Means they are more likely to go out and interact with the world while they are infectious to others. Means that a vaccinated person may actually spread the disease more than unvaccinated. Because the unvaccinated: Get sick -> know they are sick -> physically cannot or will not interact with the world because they are sick.
☕ David Antoine Seems logic yes. Problem is also the tech used by those vaccines. They should have gone inactivated virus type. That's the best way to have a strong immunity response and not allow the virus to enter cells even if it mutates on specific surface sites to try to enter. Vaccines are supposed to prohibit replication, right? If not, then they are just a high tech "emergency" drug. One who will let Pfizer alone rack up $35 billions this year...

Zero Edge Since the world seems to love hierarchy these days (and feeling morally superior) here is the undisputed "Covid Risk to Others Hierarchy" = "recently" recovered from covid > vaccinated & unvaccinated that do not have covid > vaccinated & unvaccinated that do have covid. The most superior group is those who have recovered. Feel special!

⚙️ Vdo Ok, recovered from covid19. 10 days after no symptoms, my PCR comes back positive again.

Nick Silvestri I'm voluntarily traveling to see family during the worst COVID outbreak yet. My mental health has had a profound effect on my ability to work, and I'm starting a new job, and I can't afford to let my mental health suffer in the transition.
Zero Edge Mental health is as important as physical. Weigh the risks and proceed acording to your risk tolerance. I do not agree with outside entities forcing their risk tolerance on others but I suppose that is something that is debated endlessly.

🚴 Aditya So I just tried to ask "How's everyone doing?" but it turns out I asked that 6 weeks ago as well. But anyway, how's everyone doing now? :D
Diva I am OK and I hope you are too! Challenging times at work and at home, partly to do with COVID and restrictions. I'm enjoying the seasons changing from Summer to Autumn. And I am looking forward to some time off soon.

Vincent L. Just look at all these stupid medical websites that still haven't managed to update to provide useful info when labs and hospitals are overwhelmed with covid tests and care. See how much room for improvement there's still for tech in 2020.

Diva The British Prime Minister has announced that the second wave of COVID-19 is coming. I had hoped we had more time before it came back. Further restrictions, including local lockdowns are inevitable.
Burensasub Are cases sharply rising again?

Diva I felt ill today, and I couldn't work; didn't enjoy my food and couldn't focus on my usual relaxing pursuits. We take good health for granted, don't we?
🚴 Aditya Yep! I hope you're feeling better. It's not COVID I hope? :\

🧿 Andrea Not very far! I know Lewisham, it has a tree planting group I wanted to join before covid. Today is a beautiful day, not too hot and breezy!
