How hot does it get where you live during the summer? We had a temperature of 36 degrees Celsius today, and let me tell you, we're just not used to that kind of heat here in London, UK!

After 2 weeks at 35-36 degrees, we had a drop of about 10 degrees yesterday. It's pouring rain and I am wearing an hoodie. Yikes.

This is pretty much NYC right now heh. I'm loving this weather but I know it's not great for the people stuck outside.
Diva
That sounds like my kinda day; I love the rain when I am indoors with a book, coffee and a hoodie!
đ´ Aditya
I'm a sucker for a good book, coffee, and a hoodie myself. Throw in some pakoras (en.wikipedia.org/w...) and I'm all hnnngggh.

get used to it... or move to the north. It will get warmer and warmer.

Where I am, it's hot all year around. 25 on average now. Maybe 35 on peak summer days. Recite, Brazil.

I've been to Recife! Many years ago - for Carneval. There were huge crowds and we all followed a giant chicken across a bridge. Great times!
đ¨ī¸ Fui
Yeah. The famous Galo da Madrugada. Do you believe I have never been to it? I'm here 7 years now and never found the will or the guts to join that folly. But everyone tells me it's a great experience -- you included.
đ¨ī¸ Fui
No, it's not my thing. But this year I allowed myself to participate on one of the 'previas' (prequels) of Olinda's carnival. And mind you, even being like two weeks ahead the main event, I found it overwhelming. At one point I was being carried away by the crowd, having little to no control where I would go. At one point I felt so hot and sweat that I thought "this is hell -- and I'm loving it!". But when I cooled my head off a bit afterwards, I realized it was not for me.

Olinda! Another of the places we visited. We experienced the same thing in Recife - being carried away by the crowds. We had to grip hands and then not let go..! I had no idea about "previas".
đ¨ī¸ Fui
The previas show how insanely attached to carnival people are in Recife/Olinda. They start the carnival 4 weeks before the actual day, a whole month or so, every weekend having its own mini-carnival (that grows in size at each passing week). It's really not for the faint of heart.

Recife*?
đ¨ī¸ Fui
Yeah. Thanks, autocorrect! Now I have to write 50 times the proper name of my city. Recife Recife Recife...

Usually we have a high of 27, with a couple of days over 30. I'm near Vancouver, Canada.
đģ Trinity
Normally 35 degrees in (southern) Maine USA.
đģ Trinity
Not remotely. And this is relatively close to the northern tip of America. Global warming is real!
đ¤ David
37-42 degrees Celsius and sometimes higher is usual for summers in Bakersfield, California USA.

Similar to our summers here in Melbourne! Though we just had a 17 degree day and it felt like spring had arrived -- hard to imagine how much warmer it'll get by the end of summer.

Personally, doing fine -- playing more video games than ever! The main inconvenience I theoretically see would be buying food after 8pm, or forgetting something during my one allowed daily shop. I do have friends who I'm worried about though, who have had their workplaces or positions shut down due to the restrictions. And good luck to you as well, sounds like things are getting a little scary over there.
