What different OS are people running? Always been intrigued by Linux as a forever windows user and im finally trying some out. Ive seen Tails, and Puppy Linux so far. Any recommendations?

Gentoo and LFS are what I'm using. But for someone new, I'd recommend Linux Mint. It's simple and easy, but also doesn't get in the way of advanced usage.

If you're down that avenue, check here: distrowatch.com . Plenty of interesting distros out there.

macOS. I could handle Linux, but I couldn't handle not having my mobile devices in the same ecosystem as my desktop.

As far as I know, there's no iCloud integration for Linux and all the mobile apps I use that have Mac-only counterparts won't play nicely with Linux either. It's iOS that's keeping me on macOS.

I have a dual boot setup running Windows 10 and Manjaro KDE. Windows is much stable but Manjaro wins hands down for most of my dev work.

How about Elementary OS? I love it. It's light and fast.

macOS. Simply put it does what I need it to. I've played with various Linux distros before but don't have a pragmatic justification for it. If ever there's a specific Linux use case I just use a VM.

makes sense. I usually always understand why people enjoy the simplicity of macos. It works

I've got a box with Manjaro and another with OpenSUSE. I tend to run other misc things in virtual machines. I have a couple genuine Macs also. I've done the Hackintosh thing multiple times, but I'm not a fan.

heard of people doing the hackintosh stuff in highschool. Never cared for macs when I was young and I still prefer the windows look so far. Virtual boxes seem interesting to use tho

Didn't think about virtualization. I had built a VM server on a XServe a few years back for a previous employer. It went well. I wouldn't mind doing a Hackintosh VM on my machine at home.

I just like Debian, it's simple and stable. I would highly encourage anyone who doesn't have Windows-specific applications to just switch to Linux, Ubuntu is user-friendly and not terrible.

I would if I could. My PC has a green camp GPU though, making the experience not so stable and not so enjoyable.

Ive been slowly replacing everything I use tech wise. Trying to get away from the grasps of google and other bullshit. I have seen some talk of debian so Ill try that one out next as well. Thanks!

If you're new to Linux I suggest starting on Mint (more user friendly for beginners) with a hefty /home partition and modest root partition (/home is where you put your files, the root partition will never get larger than 32GB unless you're doing something wild). That way when you switch to Debian you can keep your /home and almost nothing will change there.
