🐊 Andromeda Pie Sign for a new social network promoting itself as trustworthy and the first thing I see is a racial slur lmao
👁️ Mbladra Did the internet boards always have racists, or has that been more of a recent thing

🔻 Trinity Always, always, always. Even back in the 40s IBM built the mainframe the nazis used to catalogue the jews. It's deeply nestled in computing's history, though thankfully not too embedded in modern times (at least compared to fifty years ago).
👁️ Mbladra wow that's crazy about IBM. Just went down a wikipedia rabbit hole on that. "IBM New York established a special subsidiary in Poland called Watson Business Machines to deal with railway traffic in the General Government. Edwin Black asserts that IBM did so after the Sept 1, 1939 Nazi Invasion of Poland, and continued this business relationship during the Holocaust in Poland. Watson Business Machines operated a punch card printing shop near the Warsaw Ghetto."
⌨️ Joseph Racism isn't anything new. I'm sure there were plenty of racists in the Internet board age.
🛡️ Cyrano I'm fairly sure racists existed before the internet.
🌚 Nlggers I'm not sure about getting brave recently. I wouldn't have picked this username string if it weren't for the increased internet censorship of late. You're welcome to believe as you do and continue calling for me to be removed but I think you may come to find that the tighter you close your grip the more star systems will slip through your fingers. :^)
👁️ Mbladra wow looks like we have ourselves a badass here.. a real keyboard warrior
Rob B. Free speech is being able to say that, being responsible is not.
🌚 Nlggers I think however responsible it happens to be is a relatively subjective matter.
🤖 Razi "free hong kong" would be a much more responsible choice, for example
💡 Diff Choosing an inflammatory name--just because you can, just to push back on decreasing social tolerance of it--isn't a very "nice" thing. You don't come across as fighting against censorship, and honestly you couldn't have picked a worse example of the bad sides of "censorship" since the dynamics of normal social interactions naturally dissuade the kind of behavior you're exhibiting with your username.
Juha Think about the human nature in general and you have an answer. We are not nice creatures
🌊 Zero Two That is a really pessimistic outlook on humanity
Juha There is a lot of good in the world. But unfortunately I deal with the other half daily, which I like to think gives me perspective.
📉 Bill Think about all of nature in general. Humans are not some godly being in some love bubble disconnected from reality. Everything is in constant competition
Juha I do not understand what you're saying. What do you mean?
🌊 Zero Two But life is not a zero sum game, cooperation benefit everyone
📉 Bill We can't ever "just get along". Everything in this world is inherently in competition to survive the next day.
Juha I would argue it to be more of an "indifference" rather than direct competition for survival. The world is entropy made infinite, sure. But thats just exaggeration.
👁️ Mbladra I don't think that's true at all.. I mean if you really wanted to, I guess you might be able to do some mental gymnastics to shoehorn the world into a lens of 'inherent competition', but that's pretty obviously going to be a poor explaination of a lot of largely cooperative phenomena
📉 Bill For us, cooperation can exist between groups but not between everyone since we're in a closed system of finite resources. There is inherent competition between those with resources and those without.
🐊 Andromeda Pie I think they've just gotten more brave recently.
