alright fellas, the big debate: windows, linux, macOS, haiku, reactOS (lul), bsd, unix, beos, amigaos, etc... what operating system do you use? what operating system do you like the best? and why?

I use linux and it is the least bad, because I can fix just about anything that breaks, but the downside is I have to frequently fix things that are broken. Also, printers don't work.

I've been using Linux for so long that I'm like an old vegetarian that forgot the taste of meat. So, yeah, maybe I'm just too used to the bruises. In any case, the trick I've learned throughout the years was this: I only buy a device when I 100% sure it will work under Linux.

Even your phone?

Yes. A big biggie there too. So I'm kinda insulated on my bubble, thinking the world is perfect.

Oh cool, Ive been thinking of doing the same myself. Any recommendations?

It really depends. Want something new, latest model? That's a tricky bet. Cheap alternative? You're shooting in the dark. I would recommend to first select a pool of possible phones to buy and then do a thorough search on their compatibility status with Linux in general. XDA forums might be a good place to start.

former windows dude here, migrated to OSX when I refused to go to Vista. So now OSX, Android (I refuse to pay the iPhone stupidity tax), and I do some linux on Pi.

I use ubuntu for my desktop, where I do recreational programming and web browsing. OSX on my personal MacBook where I do recreational programming and web browsing in bed, and on my work laptop. Android on my Pixel 2 XL where I text and tweet. Thinking about buying a Surface Studio to work on drawing.

Win 10 is a very good OS. My only complaints are the hard to uninstall default apps that no one wants, and the bugs of the Settings UI, in some cases.

Always have liked Ubuntu: Linux for lazy people.

Elementary OS, beautifully designed, freedom, and privacy friendly.

I use macOS and iOS on a regular basis. Partly habit--I've been an Apple person for thirty years--and partly because I think they're easier to use and they just look better.

Wish I could turn back time to the good old days of Mac OS X Snow Leopard. Currently on macOS Catalina and not very happy with how buggy it was for the first few months (MONTHS!) after its official release. I played with Ubuntu LTS in a VM for a while and that was an even bigger bugfest so I went crawling back. I'd honestly dump my Mac for an iPad Pro if it ever got clang + Docker but that will never happen :(

If I could turn back time. If I could find a way...
