Interesting the new similar function on a Sublevel post. It seems to not work that well but perhaps I misunderstand what it's for? Has anyone tried using it?

I'm testing this kind of features. It works well for #19194 and other small texts. I'm using the pg_trgm module from PostgreSQL with a similarity threshold of 0.2 for now.

On one hand I think the technological advancement is outstanding, but on the other, it threatens to take bread off many tables. Foxconn fired 60k people - if each of those workers provides for a family of four, that means that a quarter of a million people just lost their income. I think that's frightening and that we'll see more and more people losing their jobs because what they were doing got automated (see also: qz.com/656104/a-fl...)

Lots of people lost their jobs during industrialization. World moved on to digitalization and now robotization. People should be thought to be flexible and learn new things all their lives. Also, universal basic income discussed on #19256 and #19259 can be a solution, as well as the current social benefits.

I let Chrome save and manage all my passwords. I know they encrypt them, so it's pretty safe. What I do is let others browser import everything from Chrome. I don't enable iCloud for Keychain or anything else because it makes Safari and OS X slow.

An extended reply to #19256: Personally, I would love an income where I didn't have to work for money so I could focus on personal development and pursue a few creative endeavours. But here's a thought that I just had: people are still free to work for more money (and people will have to otherwise where does the money for basic incomes come from), so fewer people will work (exact percentage unknown), so would that increase wealth unequality that so many people are concerned about? Even with a basic income, people will still think it's "unfair" and want their money that they didn't work for.

I wrote a reply the other day but buggy 3G managed to lose it. I think people will be happy so long as they can watch TV. The companies that replace employees with robots will get exceptionally rich but yeah if you could find someone to hire you, you can certainly have more money. While I'd like to hope people will do creative stuff, I'd imagine most won't and the term "idle hands make for the devils work" does come to mind. It makes me wonder if work will be more enjoyable as you can leave at any time; I should work on things I truly love.

It's just a public reminder based on @sethkontny's idea: #19001. I really should investigate the possibility. Photos won't appear on home feed, but inside an album -- your album. I just want high quality stuff here, not the every day Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram garbage images. It will probably will be a paid feature or enabled only for photographers. I can make an Instagram clone, but I don't think it will last too much. Anyway, it's hard to maintain two sites at once and I don't want to give up on Sublevel. All I want is the possibility to post my best photographs in a cool place.
