Web developer. Who isn't?
Dpsouthwell Felt the need to try other social sites. Looked at this and Ello. Ello: still waiting for an invite. Sublevel: Welcome! *gives me hugs*
Hugh Spiller Hugs all round - and no VC. aralbalkan.com/not...

Lilith Adami Nee, also ich glaube, das hier wird nichts. Allein schon das Design macht kein Zuhausegefuhl.
Hugh Spiller For those who don't sprechen, she thinks this site is going nowhere and the design doesn't make her feel at home. Shame.

Mggn is this app safer than fb or twitter?
Hugh Spiller I trust Sublevel not to sell my details to advertisers, and I haven't seen any trolling, spamming or scamming here. The simple design makes it less exploitable, while the relatively small user base makes it less of a target. So, yes, I'd say it's safer in many ways.

💬 Subreply Sublevel is now as fast as 200ms. This means less time for Sublevel, more time for you.
Hugh Spiller It's really noticeable. Great work!

Hugh Spiller Discovered an undocumented part of the API. If you go to sublevel.net/media, you get a proxy for a user list. It's incomplete, only those of us who have uploaded avatars, but I plugged it into a spreadsheet and got these results: www.bild.me/bild.php?file=7914... . So that shows the last time the avatar for each user was uploaded, with the strong line on top being roughly when each user joined. There seems to have been an unusual event on 31/7 - a restore from backup, perhaps, distorting the file dates? On the other hand, that's when I joined, so is it really just the spike from Sublevel being featured in the Versioning newsletter?

🏒 Lucian Marin There was a problem with GIF color space not being RGB which resulted in null JPEG files. That's all -- and it was fixed. Directory listing for /media has been disabled.

Hugh Spiller p5js.org looks very interesting. Processing, as in the simplified programming framework for audiovisual work, in the browser. I'll have a play with this later.

🏒 Lucian Marin What happens in Sublevel stays in Sublevel.
Hugh Spiller I saw it. Briefly, there was a 'share on other networks' link that did nothing. Then it was no more.

Simon Janes Biological. Bright blue light from your computer screen will keep you awake longer at night. This may account for why G+ is dying leaving only Photos. BooM!

Simon Janes How about a lev? Hey, are you on my lev? You find that lev? First lev! YES IT MUST HAVE THE BREVE ( V ) ;)
Hugh Spiller or blev. Blevving, blevved, blevver, reblev... "The good thing abut Sublevel is that people don't blev their lunch."

Hugh Spiller Why are all social networks blue? Apart from Google's, and they're closing shocking pink Orkut, leaving only red g+.

🏒 Lucian Marin Why not build a browser extension for that? Take a look at the source code of re/5394.
Hugh Spiller I might just do that. This no-script interface is all very well, but...

Ben J. By always chasing the newest thing, do we loose the ability to appreciate the imperfections in what we have, and watch it grow into something we can truly take pride in?
Hugh Spiller You're right. Let's go back to Myspace and make it really work this time.

Hugh Spiller , is there a way of putting a newline in a post (re, sub, ping, lev)? Although Sublevel allows long-form messages, unlike Twitter, we're still restricted to one paragraph. Long posts are difficult to follow.
