Resolved, reply and edit now use the same validation code.

I just made a reply on another thread and there is no edit button, any idea why? (when I can find it it seems to work fine though!)

If you use an extension to apply custom CSS then this file should automatically collapse reply threads: github.com/dvaun/s...

It can be done in JavaScript, but threads will still be rendered in full. Is clicking a button better than scrolling?

Certainly. Collapsing a thread if it becomes too large is required to maintain clarity of the page. That's part of what makes it possible to survive reddit :p
