🏒 Lucian Marin Facebook looks like Microsoft Encarta which Wikipedia eventually killed. So, maybe an open-source project can kill Facebook too. Wikipedia isn't decentralized and it's a lot more text based than Encarta used to be.

Martijn Wikipedia survives on generous grants and donations, and spends a few million USD every month. If you want to be the Wikipedia to Facebook's Encarta, the real question is where you will get the money to do so. Though I might just be too cynical.

🏒 Lucian Marin Wikipedia needs to pay editors. An open-source social network needs to pay only for servers and bandwidth.

🏒 Lucian Marin Yes, it is. Look how scared they are about Snapchat: live stories in all their products. It's not about past content, but the future content... and ad money.
