🙌 Nat Voisey Would you have to be a good employee, as well as talented?
👨🏻‍💻 Moroni I'm thinking that you can have talent but if you don't have emotional intelligence, strong social skills, among other factors, you won't succeed.
🙌 Nat Voisey They can do more, but they won't do as *little* as you can do. I like that you've kept it simple.
🏒 Lucian Marin I spent six months on other social networks and I got bored. Subreply is a lot more interesting to me even if there aren't that many people here.
🏒 Lucian Marin You're welcome. I couldn't send the email to everyone, just the latest active users.
Martijn I am surprised my account even made the list of latest active users. I am happy to see that most of the site still has the same vibe, even 10 years later. Though I will also admit I have been burned out on social media.
🏒 Lucian Marin I think I will shut down Sub this time. New social networks can do more than I can do.
👽 Paul Webb I stopped working on socii.network because I came to the same conclusion. Mastodon has scratched that social media itch for me, even though the features I'd add would be more exciting.
👨‍💻 Timo Whoa! Totally forgot about this fun little social network! Thanks for the reminder mail

😀 Tom Happy 10-year Subversary to me!

🦇 Arr Just read a heading on hackernews: "making social "social" again". This site here is what makes social media "social", instead of corporate, again. (But media is technically just text, so not media, but social text, at its best, I guess.)
🏒 Lucian Marin Yes! How many times I need to explain it? Subreply is HN version of a social network.
😁 Nitin Khanna social media, as in where you go to consume content and read people's comments and have conversations? Yes. Social network, as in where you go to hang out with friends? Nope!
🦇 Arr "You have zero friends." Well yes, but I do not need social media to tell me that! Or South Park episode titles, for that matter.

Zero Edge I love being lectured about the price we charge for labor being too high by people who pay their illegal alien laborers below minimum wage, don't pay unemployment, medicare, social security, taxes, insurance, health care, paid sick leave, paid family leave, or workers comp. You know those things you voted for that are meant to protect those people from scalpers like you?
🏒 Lucian Marin In 2019 I suggested to Elon Musk to build a social network together. He answered me and said he wasn't interested, but my idea definitely changed everything. This is the butterfly effect of me creating a tiny social network. Five years later I saved the entire world from collapse.
🦇 Arr Did he not get the idea from the community that all billionaries buy out a kind of media outlet to spread their point of view to the world? As for apps Musk likes to code, the everything-app seems to be it. For 20 years now, or when was his time with paypal?

🦧 Simon Gray Instagram's latest update seems to have frozen on my aging phone. Then Whee suddenly offers their first update in ages.
🏒 Lucian Marin Subreply is the best way to quit social media.
🏒 Lucian Marin I revamped all things related to groups and hashtags. Hashtag is a reference to a group. You can post and reply inside a group. I need to code a way to automatically create a group when you use a new hashtag. I think the best way to describe Subreply is having Twitter and Reddit in one social network.

🦧 Simon Gray Wondering if the fragmentation of streaming services, & social media, is purely capitalism ruining things, or the internet's culture diversifying things too.

🦧 Simon Gray Ignored fasting & productivity apps in a massively social weekend now gone. Returning to fasting mid week, I'm buzzing, can't sleep.

🏒 Lucian Marin At one point I owned superthread.net and created a social network for it
🤷 Rudi That's a cool coincidence, what kind of social network do you build? Guessing from the name, is it some kind of social forum like reddit?
