Just want to share my thoughts here. I've worked with react for the last 5 years. However I've started seeing a trend and it's for a good reason that people incl me realise the trade offs of reactivifying everything. Esp for a blog, a non SPA server rendered page works with less moving parts, or a html only SSG (i use zola). You could mount extra reactivity with Web Components (e.g remount). PS i still use next.js, not trying ti dismiss it :)

You can React-ify static sites too! I'm pretty sure that's what Gatsby is. @msp it's way cheaper (usually even free) to run a blog using a static site hosted on Netlify. I wish I could find an alternative to Netlify, because I feel like they're getting too big, but that's what seems to work for now.

When I write a message, how come I get the error "Use spaces or shorter words". What's the condition to trigger that message? I'm way below the character limit.

Sounds silly, but I don't understand how the "replies" function works at all. I'll see a thread with something like "8 replies", and when I click it, I expect the replies to drop down under it in a clear hiearchy. They don't seem to do that, and I don't see the number of replies that the link indicates.

neat. What resource do u recommend learning C# ?
๐งต Evan
I've just been relying on Microsoft documentation and other examples I find around the 'net. Do be aware of the differences between .NET Framework (old, Windows-only) and .NET Core (open-source, all platforms) and you can use most things between the two. AFAIK all the language features are the same, but some of the built-in APIs can be totally different, so be sure to look specifically for .NET Core in that case. They're getting rid of .NET Framework soon.

Lots of us here are programmers. What's your favorite programming language, and why?
๐งต Evan
I love JS and TypeScript, be it through Node.JS, Deno, or the browser, because I've never not been able to get something done with it. My second favorite would be C#.NET Core, for my current jobs. Anyone who wants something like Java without all the crust, take a look at C# with .NET Core. It's got a lot of refreshing features and built-in async, await, Promises (Tasks) just like JS, far easier to setup a project, and doesn't necessarily need a heavy weight IDE.

Unfortunately, some groups manipulate talk about coronavirus, especially to try to open up. So I'm not waiting until the news filters through to me.

Hey, subreply folk -- what resources do you use most to keep up with coronavirus information?
๐งต Evan
opinion which does not answer your question: I hear people talk about it and otherwise I'm avoiding the topic while taking the usual safety precautions; being eaten up with concern over a global thing is counter-productive to me; when something important comes out about it everyone will know so it's no use keeping up with it
