Diva How hot does it get where you live during the summer? We had a temperature of 36 degrees Celsius today, and let me tell you, we're just not used to that kind of heat here in London, UK!
🗨️ Fui Where I am, it's hot all year around. 25 on average now. Maybe 35 on peak summer days. Recite, Brazil.

Diva I've been to Recife! Many years ago - for Carneval. There were huge crowds and we all followed a giant chicken across a bridge. Great times!

🗨️ Fui Yeah. The famous Galo da Madrugada. Do you believe I have never been to it? I'm here 7 years now and never found the will or the guts to join that folly. But everyone tells me it's a great experience -- you included.

Diva It's not for the faint hearted..! What do you usually do for Carneval?

🗨️ Fui No, it's not my thing. But this year I allowed myself to participate on one of the 'previas' (prequels) of Olinda's carnival. And mind you, even being like two weeks ahead the main event, I found it overwhelming. At one point I was being carried away by the crowd, having little to no control where I would go. At one point I felt so hot and sweat that I thought "this is hell -- and I'm loving it!". But when I cooled my head off a bit afterwards, I realized it was not for me.

Diva Olinda! Another of the places we visited. We experienced the same thing in Recife - being carried away by the crowds. We had to grip hands and then not let go..! I had no idea about "previas".

🗨️ Fui The previas show how insanely attached to carnival people are in Recife/Olinda. They start the carnival 4 weeks before the actual day, a whole month or so, every weekend having its own mini-carnival (that grows in size at each passing week). It's really not for the faint of heart.
