😀 Tom Yeah. I used to be a supporter of Microsoft, but they lost me with Windows 10 (I actually used and liked 8.1, but my understanding is that they've pushed the same privacy-invasive updates to 8.1 as well). The hardware looks impressive, but I just can't get behind Windows anymore. Hopefully it works well with Linux, but even then I won't be dropping 3000 USD on it.
👽 Paul Webb I wish I had the money to drop on the hi-end version of that. It's the iMac I've always wanted.
🏒 Lucian Marin I like the new Space Gray MacBook Pro more, that version without Touch Bar.
👽 Paul Webb What don't you like about the Touch Bar? I'm assuming you'd like a real ESC key.
🏒 Lucian Marin Mapping Caps Lock to ESC is easy with macOS. It's the fact that I use my laptop 80% in the dark. The Touch Bar can't be turned off, it only has automatic brightness with no manual control. Maybe the 2nd hardware version will be better.
👽 Paul Webb Oh wow, that's quite the use case! Makes sense why you wouldn't want it. I wonder if Apple will ever push an update to modify the brightness in software (haven't read the docs so not sure if that's possible).
Personavox Figures as I'm in need of buying a laptop. A Dpu(dedicated GPu) is essential. Thus mbp only offers in top tier. 2,339. Microsoft new surface have dpu. Come on. I would love to design on such a device. Limitless options. I'm still working on getting a computer. :( fail :(. Ideas intelligent analysts here.
Martijn I have heard pretty good things about the Intel Iris, but I too would prefer a "dpu". I might not go for it this time around and put those extra couple of 100's towards a separate tower PC instead the way it is now.
Seth Kontny Thanks. I don't really have option for a tower. As I'm constantly working in multiple locations and doing jobs for companies / people / multiple varieties. I read about MacBook pros having 2010 level hardware ?? medium.freecodecam...
