John Olinda How long before Amazon sells an Echo refrigerator?

😀 Tom I won't buy a "smart" refrigerator for the same reasons I won't buy a "smart" television.

John Olinda I hate smart televisions, and since I live in Korea I doubt such a refrigerator would really matter to me personally, but when you think about it, it seems like one logical step for them to take now that things can be delivered in as little as one hour. Potentially your refrigerator could order and accept orders autonomously once you have a robot capable of answering the door. Of course there are massive privacy implications here too. Do you want Amazon to know about your food allergies? The type of food you eat? That sort of information seems really appealing to third-parties.

Mark Dain There's fridges that can connect to Google Calendar. Very gimmicky if you ask me.

John Olinda Unless it's some sort of massive display that shows me information for the day (sort of a dumber Jarvis) then I don't really see the point. I prefer the idea of devices that are capable of hooking into a smart core. That's why my TV is dumb as a doornail but hooked into a PC. The TV is great at being a TV and the PC is great at being a PC. And they're connected to each other. That's why I wish cars would hook into my smartphone, instead of having built-in navigation or "smart" interfaces.
