Everything Microsoft touches turns to dust. Nokia, Minecraft, Skype, Yammer, LinkedIn, GitHub and list will go on.
Do you want to become a news section on Subreply? It would be possible to reply on articles.
I'd be happy to participate in a comment section on some articles.
After two years of no resets, my wireless router has died. The 4G hotspot saved me until I receive a new router. I can stream local TV at 180p. :)
2 years is a short span for a router. I upgraded to a 5G Tp-Link Archer C50 last year. It's okay. The old one still runs as a backup (5 years old).
I wish I could start a company that builds crazy hardware like Pocket ( from Analogue. I would rebuild Sony Vaio P with brand new hardware. Make the whole keyboard a trackpad just like Blackberry does on their smartphones. Add phone and NFC capabilities to it too.
I'd love that kind of projects as well.
I have these thoughts from time to time, rejecting them due to the necessity of at least a tens of thousands devices to produce them in sufficiently advanced manufacturing technology.
So, Apple can build a Touch ID into the 6mm frame of iPad Air. But they can't to the same with the 8mm frame of iPhone for an all-screen design. iPad team needs to design new iPhones.
apple innovation is losing grip since years..
interesting, do you think the iphone 12 won't have touchID? I think the ipad air having touch ID means the new iphone will too.
LinkedIn initially rejected two bug reports from me. The first was fixed. For the second one they just deleted a post I couldn't access when logged in. Now I want to build an alternative. Every account can have a resume, post jobs, share stuff with mentions and private messages.
I'm not on LinkedIn but I'll gladly join an alternative.
I left LinkedIn because they said it was full of security leaks. Go for it.
I haven't used linkedIn in years. Left tired of all the spam tactics employed. It also didn't help their efforts of trying to make of it another engagement seeking platform. Regardless, an alternative would be very welcome. (So many words just to say 'go for it')
An ActivityPub federated alternatives ?
How about using instead?
good point!
I've always hated Linkedin. It feels bloated and spammy. Angellist and StackOverflow have been much more convenient to find companies that are a good fit for me and vice versa. Looking forward to see what you come up with. Good luck!
"Also, the company has decided to forgo a Micro USB port and instead embrace USB-C, which should appeal to the vocal minority that hates having multiple cables." At least we are vocal, vocal enough for a niche company with a niche product to switch to USB-C.
This device is so expensive ! But also so cool ! Also look at those very cool hacks!
Holy shit, this looks amazing! This looks like everything I need. But my wallet though.
I've been wanting one of these for years. Would pair well with my old AlphaSmart Neo2.
Cron job for automatic renewal of SSL certificate: 0 0 1 */1 * certbot renew --renew-hook "systemctl reload nginx". We will see if it works in the coming months.
I found Caddy server more reliable than me at renewing certificates since it is checking it at each request !
I create systemd timer to renew my certbot certificates because i had problems with cron.
There are three possible situations when editing a reply that contains a mention: changing the mention, deleting it or keeping it the same. I implemented all of them for Subreply. We can edit everything now.
At drive-in cinema without a car.
Interesting...! Where do you sit at a drive in when you have no car?
I always wanted to something like that in front of my house
portable chair rocks!
Words are now highlighted while listening to an article on but it took me a while to figure out how to do it properly.
I would like to be able to edit artificialfeed sources and delete/add my favorite ones. But there are plenty of RSS readers to do just that (I use Flym)... Nonetheless, It would be nice, with the added bonus of the ultra minimalistic style of the site. I suppose that it would be a big backend change...
Cool feature addition.
OMG this is exactly what I was looking for, thank you a lot for this project!
Could you toy with adding favicons to the websites?
Responding to a different change: why can we not have lower-case names anymore? All of a sudden mine is capitalized when I intentionally wanted it to be lower-case. This seems like a bad idea.
What do you mean by "listening"? I can't find a way to play any sound
I got a black framed mirror from Ikea that looks like the monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
My favorite YouTube channel is Comma AI hosted by George Hotz: Non-stop Python programming.
I got an Hey invite if everyone wants it.
Another "email services client?" I wrote about those a little ( Not even free I want it. :-D
No thanks, I had a brush with Ippimail a few years back - as says - I'll stick with my Apple service.
Did they literally just start handing out access? I signed up today. Intrigued.
How do you like Hey?
I think I will finally host my own mail
If nobody else want it, please give it to me. I still think XMPP will do the better job than Hey, but I'm a long time DHH fan, just want to see his recent creation.
Sijmen Mulder added Radio Fidelity and Subreply to his list of text-only websites: - check it out!
Hey I know that guy!
somewhat related The Return of the 90s Web news.ycombinator.c... w some pointers towards text-only directories
That how I found both your work!
Should I send an email to the last active people announcing Subreply?
Yes! and I can try to get a few other people to join as well
Yes! I found it eventually...
Thanks for sending the email. I have already forgotten about it, because it has changed names--and TLDs--four(?) times now.
Thanks for the email! I hadn't forgotten, just wandered off to
Thanks for the email! I had forgotten about sublevel, but I really like the concept, and will try to make more use of it!
Yay I forgot about this service until I got the email :)
Good to be back!
Happy to be back
I didn't remember that this network existed
