The new iMac uses a 143W power adapter. Apple couldn't reduce M1 power to 100W to charge it using USB-C PD.
It's basically just a Mac Mini but with a screen, keyboard and mouse/trackpad and a monitor. Should be under 100W easy. There's certainly another reason for it. Maybe just to get rid of an enormous stock of power bricks (so much for environment)... I do like the ethernet port on the power brick though, hope they put that on the next MacBook Pro.
Should I upgrade from Sony XZ1 Compact to Google Pixel 4a? I do it more for a bigger screen in a compact form factor.
Interestingly, I set a filter on gsmarena for phones under 150x70x10mm starting year 2019... And... It only returned 17 smartphones! We really live in a world of oversized "terminals"! The 4a is listed but also the more powerful Galaxy S10e which could be a nice choice (if you find a good renewed one)... m.gsmarena.com/res...
First self-haircut went terrible bad.
they get better! you have to start somewhere. can always lop it all off and go for the mr clean look
I used to do it in college. Wouldn't dare do it today.
I just did mine today! It's pretty terrible as well, so I can sympathize :D
I want to add social links to profiles. What other social networks do you use?
I think twitter would be a big one, and maybe reddit would be good to add. Not sure if instagram/facebook would fit but idk.
i'm on twitter, and this week i signed up on vk. i'm also on reddit, i have pretty much the same username everywhere. i hate anonymity and privacy
far too many. i plan to delete a lot of the accounts on more mainstream services (imageboards and textboards are okay nearly always but the bigger the sites get the worse they are to use). maybe have a custom field system or something? it would be really cool to be able to have a list of maybe 10 services and be able to click on the service name to find others on subreply who also use it, though when people use different names for the same service that could get weird
I don't use any other social networks except for this one... I feel like an extraterrestrial. :D
You can see mine here: github.com/Apostol...
Fediverse (Mastodon, Pleroma, etc), personal website, lobste.rs, Hacker News, Teddit, and some others. I'd say that arbitrary key-value fields on profiles would be better; one column can be the name of the platform while the other an be a URL, similar to what most Fediverse sites do.
I want a launcher for Android that has the app drawer as home screen and lets me hide certain apps.
You can have this with Bliss Launcher (for /e/). But you can't hide certain apps (or i don't know how to do this)
maybe you could have a look to KISS Launcher on F-Droid f-droid.org/packag...
There's a tool called FASTER which is exactly that. It can be used as homescreen, you can hide and pin apps. And it's very fast.
I also recommend KISS Launcher.
I set the homepage of Monochrome browser to subreply.com and I'm using it as a Mac client. By the way, the app is free.
It's possible to have private messages on Subreply. They can be encrypted using the password hash. Changing the password will fail to decrypt old messages.
But why this way? Why not encrypt a separate key (maybe even per message exchange) that is reencrypted when the password gets changed.
Why not destruct a message after logout ? Passwords are not control mechanisms. Sometimes you have to change your password for security purposes. An attack on an account could result in the loss of the important information. Better to just delete everything in a clear manner.
The upcoming Sony Xperia Compact (140x68.9x8.9mm) seems big to me. Maybe iPhone 13 mini (131.5x64.2x7.4mm) would come with USB-C charging. I really enjoy the size of my XZ1 Compact (129x65x9.3mm).
I started my "smartphone adventure" with a Sony Xperia U, their models are so underrated ! I think this is the latest brand to think of enthusiasts, but MKBHD on YouTube explains that better than me
Hum I think the 13 is going to be the last one with a lighting port. Then the 14 will be portless. Or lightning for the 13 / 14 and portless for the 13 Pro / 14 Pro... Either way they are probably not using USB-C on iPhones, they still want to milk the lightning port licensing revenue as long as possible IMHO... And I'm using Telegram, if they decide to ban it using the hate speach excuse, I prefer sticking w/ Android now, where I can sideload the APK...
I had to switch to the new iphone mini just because it was the only updated small phone out there. I loved my xperia compact (had the z5c, and the x compact), but they were getting old. finally i switched to the iphone SE 1st gen for a year or so and now i'm on the mini. I hope the mini will start a new trend of small android devices again
SSL certificates for and unfeeder.com updated themselves on the first day of 2021. certbot renew --renew-hook "systemctl reload nginx" really works with sudo crontab -e.
`sudo crontab -e` -> Why the elevated priviliege? Should the certbot not run as a non-admin user for better security?
If you keep walking, the rain will eventually stop. Even more, the rain clears the path for you. Don't stop because it rains.
Replaced Fira Sans (311 KB) with Route 159 (55 KB). Even if it's not the perfect typeface, I'll keep looking for lightweight replacements.
looks good on my Windows machine!
Could it be possible to have some dark theme with the Android app ? Or a theme toggle somewhere ? Thank you very much for having developped Su reply (:
I wasn't familiar with this font. Looks interesting. What did the creator mean by this sentence: "It is designed to take wide countertops inside letters, including lowercase b, d, p, q, making it even harder to collapse even in small size"? Wide countertops?
If care about weight, have you considered font-family:sans-serif? It's even lighter at 0 KB. ;)
It will be nice if Apple could scale M1 to other Macs: 2x M1 in MBP 16 and iMac, 4x and 8x M1 in Mac Pro. Maybe even a 2x M1 Mac mini.
Am i the only one who's not excited about this M1 chip? Ram is inside the chip, everything is hard soldered, you can't replace any component. I know it has been this way with macs lately but this time it's even worse. It seems to me that the sole purpose of those new chips is to make them more like iphones and ipads so that the only way to upgrade is to keep buying the newer models.
I am more excited with Risc V that M1. Apple vertical grow soon will have us all paying a a monthly fee just to be able to turn on our superfast Apple devices. And the kicker is, people will pay. He he.
