Blow out the dust every month, keep it well ventilated, don't over-tax the hardware (eg. bloatware keeping the CPU at 100% all the time), and it will last well over a decade. My desktop is 10 years old now. It runs Windows 7 Ultimate and Photoshop CS5 just fine.

I won't be installing anything; just Steam and such. Actually, I'll even be leaving IE on the machine. Since I use my Mac for work/watching videos, the gaming PC will only run games. Should be quite easy to keep it running fast and smooth. Among that, I'll keep the hardware cool and as dust free as I can.
