Nkrs Used the bad weather to go through my CD collection and throw out ones that didn't work anymore or that I didn't need. Windows 98 and 2000, Office 2000, Encarta 2003, Visual Studio 6, then a compilation with all sorts of programs like Winamp3, WinZip, Opera 7, pre-1.0 Firefox, a bunch of DivX codecs and old games... It's a trip down the memory lane, but also a realization--ever since we had DSL installed in our home, the only software that we burned onto discs were Linux distributions. It is simply easier and faster to just download software on the go than to store it and look it up later.
Eric I had the pleasure of clearing out a old forgotten storage room at my old employer's. Old 90s Windows CDs and huge premium packaged CD-ROMs, with giant purple/green hued booklets with the silver embossed text. It was great to see how software used to be packaged.
Nkrs Don't know much about the packaging--these CDs were either copies of pirated and cracked programs, or received as second hand without the original packaging.
