I just signed up for a free gitlab.com account. It's an empty account, but it's so slow. I will stay with BitBucket for private repositories. Atlassian know what they are doing.

Not a fan of Github? I'm lazy to jump ship to BitBucket but if Github does become a paid service I'll have to consider something. I was thinking of running my own GitLab instance, but if you say it's slow, that means it's slow enough to bother me too.

I keep my public repositories on GitHub and the private ones on BitBucket. I'm not a fan of any of these services. I just need to get things done.

Ahhh, I see. I have five private repos with Github which is enough for me at the moment as I only use four of them. If I at some point I have to pay to use Github I'm not sure what I'll do, probably think about running my own Gitlab instance. I'm of the same mind though, it's not about preference, it's just more useful than no service at all.
