The hardware is nice, but the software is not there yet. iOS 12 will make iPhone X usable, until then is more of an experiment. A smaller version will also be more useful for me. Space Gray on the back isn't as nice as Jet Black.

What about iOS 11 makes it feel unusable to you? I've been using the beta for a couple months so I'm unable to think of any issues (it feels normal to me).

I kept playing with iPhone X on the iOS Simulator and the swipe up gesture to go back home still doesn't feel right to me. I think there's a reason why Google kept the navigation bar for so long on Android. I find easier to touch something rather then perform a gesture.

Hmm. I find that any swipe gestures in the simulator feels off to me because I have to click and drag on my mousepad to get them to work. That feels way different than using my thumb to swipe on a screen. I'm hoping that weirdness you feel doesn't translate into the real-life experience.
