🦿 Lucian Marin I've gone from 800 to 720 to 640. I don't know what was the reason the last time I changed the characters limit, but I trust the past me more than the future me. I think it has to do with the fact that more than 80 characters per line is hard to read and eventually more than 8 lines of text becomes annoying for the reader, not the writer.

☕ David Antoine The initial 640 is a good minimum anyway. Twitter set a bad trend when it comes to written language, imho, but you can also say the SMS started it first... That's why I prefer a higher limit. It's just better. I think it is the lack of paragraphs that makes more characters hard to read. At least in this format. So if you ever increase the limit over 640 again, it would probably help to let the text breathe with some space between a group of lines... I guess you can offer the option of a send button so that the enter key event is not detected as a send command... Just like Telegram, WhatsApp and the likes...
