Mark Dain I fully expect to write up a blog post about this fiasco. And never buy a Lenovo product again.
Eric There's a lot of things I should write about, I shouldn't really be blaming Lenovo yet - but they seem the culprit. I thought having McAffy pre-installed was bad enough lol. I don't like writing stuff in anger, I'll just do this and move on to more enjoyable things. There's a funky SVG bendy text project which needs some finalizing.

Mark Dain It's strange they bundled an anti-virus that didn't find the malware. Maybe you installed something? I know if you search VLC, there's some dodgy links that come first before the legit one. Honest mistake we've all made.

Eric Have you ever had to interface with a McAffee installation you didn't ask for? The thing is worse than the Malware it's trying to kill. Nothing but fear-mongering and terror. Huge red boxes, overlays at awkward times. Everything is set up to scare the older generation, my parents generation. They'll get none of my good will.

Mark Dain No but I remember uninstalling AVG, that was pretty horrible. Microsoft Security Essentials is such a breath of fresh air. I sometimes wonder if anti-virus software is worse than viruses with the constant scaring and bullshit.

Eric Most big name anti-virus software is pretty bad for those tactics. What's worse is that stores like PC World have their sales staff actively use scare-pushing to try and sell them. That's why my Mum has me accompany her when buying new computers :)
