Martijn Part of me wants to turn into a complete Australia supporter for Eurovision (happening this week on a TV channel near you!) just because of them being Australia.

Martijn I liked France too. Australia and Russia weren't too bad either, well deserved spots at the top. Ukraine was a total surprise to me because I don't go for the type of music at all. Would have sooner given my vote to Russia, although politically I would never consider backing them.
Adam Douglas That's the trouble with Eurovision. It's not supposed to be political, yet everybody is with some reading centuries of history into a vote for a song. And why not? Australia must have been something of a relief for juries because they're a neutral party. It was okay, didn't like the song but the singer had a great voice.

Adam Douglas Anybody tune into tonight? It was pretty cool to see Ukraine snatch the crown out of Russia's teeth.
Martijn I watch every year. One week per year I go 100% gay stereotype, filling my Facebook feed with comments about dresses and choreography. I never expected Ukraine to win though.

Martijn Another year another Eurovision. I was completely wrong about the winner this time around.

Martijn Sweden itched out a win over Russia, good stuff. I know they keep telling us we should not mix politics with Eurovision, but be frank, this is the Super Bowl for gay people, you can't do that in current Russia. Though some really good songs were very much under appreciated, Germany 0 points, really?
Adam Douglas I thought Germany's song was weak, but deserved more than 0. Better than UK's song which ought to have come in the bottom 2, along with Austria's Kings of Leon copycat. Still, there are many problems with Eurovision, including automatic qualification for the elite few. I thought Italy's song was overrated, France was roughly where it should have been. I thought Latvia was going to receive more votes.

Adam Douglas Me too! Is everybody really /that/ scared of Russia?
Martijn I don't think scared is the right word. But those rainbow flags wouldn't even be allowed at an event under Russian law... Propagating gay rights is illegal. That does not sit well with the Eurovision crowd.

Martijn I just opened Sublevel to write something clever about Eurovision, but the new layout made me forget what I was going to write.
🦿 Lucian Marin Now you have to write something clever about the new layout. :) It still needs some tweaks, but feedback is welcomed.

Adam Douglas They're all so morbid this year. UK entry is ridiculous as always. Not sure who I'm rooting for.
Eric When is the final?
