Would anyone be willing to help me install OpenBSD this weekend? Perhaps over Skype screen sharing?
Martijn
This sound like something that should be a live stream and then be archived somewhere. There are just way too few resources like that.
Mark Dain
I can imagine a live stream may get messy with lots of mistakes but I could reinstall afterwards, following notes. Video tutorials are a great teaching resource in my opinion.
Martijn
I honestly prefer livestreams of people figuring things out (mostly games) than video tutorials. But that might just be me.
Mark Dain
Do you know what sort of software can be used? It may be useful for the OpenBSD developers to see some user testing, although I have the feeling if you find OpenBSD hard to install, you aren't in their target audience.
Martijn
I hear a lot about obsproject.com
John Olinda
Virtual machine install, I assume? What time zone are you in currently?
Mark Dain
Virtual Machine for now, I want to investigate running it on my machine full time though. I'm GMT/UTC right now.
John Olinda
Well, we are GMT+9, so if sometime between 7:00 and 13:00 GMT works for you on Saturday, I'll do my best to be free. Sunday won't work, I'm afraid.
Mark Dain
So I managed to get it installed this time, I remember it being much harder but that may just be more experience with computers and so on. Now the issue I'm having is "pkg_add" seems to not work. Perhaps the networking is broken, I'd like to install Vim, PHP, mplayer and Firefox. At that point I can at least work on my computer.
John Olinda
Did you run "export PKG_PATH"? openbsd.org/faq/fa...
