Roughing it from Boy Scout camp this morning with a nice cup of fresh-brewed coffee and the Chromebook.

Last time I hung out with scouts on a trip, they weren't allowed to bring their mobile phones with them. And there you are bringing a laptop?!

Eagle Scout here. Yeah, adults shouldn't have electronics either (other than a cell phone used for coordinating stuff, not emails, personal/work calls, or texting). It's a part of "leading by example." Also, a laptop is not "roughing it" :-)

Yeah, so...I feel your pain, and I struggle with it. This is our week-long camp, though, and I have to work half-days even though I'm here with the youth. So I get up at 4AM, work for a couple hours, and have it all packed away by the time our bugler wakes the boys. Then it comes out for another couple of hours while they're out of our campsite at merit badges and other program activities. I'd much rather have left the electronics at home, but it's a necessary compromise for our Troop to be able to attend summer camp at all.

And of course I should have put scare quotes around "roughing it." All good.
