Martijn Every store I see has some sort of Black Friday sale going on. But why? It is not like we just had Thanksgiving here in Sweden. We haven't had anything. What's wrong with starting on Monday, after the first Advent Sunday?
Nkrs There's a retail park in my city, and most of the stores are having Black Friday for an entire week starting yesterday. To my understanding, there's no cultural background to it other than stores in US doing it every year after thanksgiving, so it's pretty senseless that it's being copied elsewhere. That said, I did go and buy some shirts I was already planning to buy, but now at 40% off.

Martijn So many politicians talk of "islamification", while the wholesale copying of American culture is way more abundant.
