Why my post about spirit animals gets deleted? I just suggested that caring about gender in terms of intellectual conversation is misguided and stupid, if we would go by this road it will be more descriptive to assign spirit animals of choice (I'll take owl or smth). I hope that this was just server error so posting again. It's not in any way aggressive message.

While the expansion of gender as a concept weakens it in certain ways, such as limiting its usefulness in description, I think a lot of people use it for various other purposes, such as affirming their self identity, group identity, or for purposes of legal representation. In other words, many use the language of gender for other reasons, and they are allowed to do that.

@lucian look I'm sure you meant well by starting this and maybe if you get some more women and people of color and LGBT folks to come hang out here it might be alright. I know it's not what you intended, but it's a little dehumanizing to suggest that diversity of race, sex, and orientation alone improves an online discussion. Everyone has agency and is capable of misusing their social capital to create an environment of intolerance. I believe the opposite is true too!
