unique emoji thing is an anti-feature, what's the point of disallowing someone from favoring two certain emojis, if they have a different username?

I agree. I hope it gets changed at some point.

Emoji status is permanently unique only if you visit the site at least once a year. One year can become a few months based on number of active people. Reverse combination of emoji is allowed too, so you can share the same status of other member.
