It will be nice if Apple could scale M1 to other Macs: 2x M1 in MBP 16 and iMac, 4x and 8x M1 in Mac Pro. Maybe even a 2x M1 Mac mini.
Am i the only one who's not excited about this M1 chip? Ram is inside the chip, everything is hard soldered, you can't replace any component. I know it has been this way with macs lately but this time it's even worse. It seems to me that the sole purpose of those new chips is to make them more like iphones and ipads so that the only way to upgrade is to keep buying the newer models.
I am more excited with Risc V that M1. Apple vertical grow soon will have us all paying a a monthly fee just to be able to turn on our superfast Apple devices. And the kicker is, people will pay. He he.
Finally updated my /now page. Anyone else have one? If so, share! :) martinrue.com/now
The short story you're sharing on your now page sounds like you're living the dream! :) Glad you can explore new places and learn new languages. Here's my now page, that I actually should update again: niklasbuehler.com/...
Just found your site and I really loved your article Why Read? Thank you for sharing and elaborating on something that has been on my mind lately!
That's a neat experience you're having! Also, the /now page is a good idea. I may create one now after I finish playing around with a little app
blake dot instantfloppy dot net/now should be up. Edit: I think cloudflare miscached it so try blake.instantflopp... (with the additional .html) if it isn't working
very nice
How's Barcelona?
Replaced Fira Sans (311 KB) with Route 159 (55 KB). Even if it's not the perfect typeface, I'll keep looking for lightweight replacements.
looks good on my Windows machine!
Could it be possible to have some dark theme with the Android app ? Or a theme toggle somewhere ? Thank you very much for having developped Su reply (:
I wasn't familiar with this font. Looks interesting. What did the creator mean by this sentence: "It is designed to take wide countertops inside letters, including lowercase b, d, p, q, making it even harder to collapse even in small size"? Wide countertops?
If care about weight, have you considered font-family:sans-serif? It's even lighter at 0 KB. ;)
What is your RSS Reader of choice? Currently using Inoreader, but wondering about alternatives.
I've never been a big RSS Reader user but Fraidycat looks just too good.
Big fan of Miniflux but I was using Inoreader before (:
I used Feedbro browser extension (add-on).
I tried many RSS Reader and now because my RSS feeds are managed by the News app from my nextcloud instance, currently using OCC Reader on my phone, downloaded from F-Droid
I use Feeder on Android. Basic, but it does the job. I have used Inoreader in the past and liked its UI however the free version has ads, right? Also used Feedly before which was okayish.
Subreply fits the description.
Waiting for 16kb.club. (hey, hey)
1MB.club is also worth checking out.
what kind os music did yo hear when you go to develop?
Chilltrax radio station is playing in the background.
Worldwide FM and Radio Meuh
Today it was Black Sun Empire. Often it's either similar drum'n'bass or chill beat music. *edit*: sorry, overread the "os". You might find some good stuff on cchound.com
Whatever my music app thinks is most similar to Propellerheads - Take California
I like old English music. Anything from ABBA to Iron Maiden :)
I love to listen Radio Swiss Jazz or jazzfm.ro witch is one of the most beautiful and minimalist site I ever see.
Groove Salad from soma.fm is my go-to. Lava Lamp is a good Spotify playlist too.
How's it going, everyone?
Pretty good vibes over here. I'm cooking some 2am garlic bread and because my housemates are all asleep I don't have to share! plus they don't even get to enjoy the garlic smell so win win
Going well. Trying to get new shoes. Mine are falling apart. Literally. But it's always hard to find shoes because I never know what to look for.
I'm trying not to eat all the Halloween sweets! So far, I'm failing...
So I just tried to ask "How's everyone doing?" but it turns out I asked that 6 weeks ago as well. But anyway, how's everyone doing now? :D
Entropy is winning, send reinforcements.
Pretty good! I will be starting a new role in a few weeks or so :) how about yourself?
Generally good but a lot of personal stuff on my plate currently and it is just not feasible to procrastinate them further. Starting a hormone therapy actually today. It's about ekzema though, nothing mind blowing. Next step: start actual therapy to figure out that whole ADHD thing.
I am OK and I hope you are too! Challenging times at work and at home, partly to do with COVID and restrictions. I'm enjoying the seasons changing from Summer to Autumn. And I am looking forward to some time off soon.
"Be nice to people on the way up; because you just might meet them on the way down." What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
"Know your future self" Not necessarily the best advice ever but one that becomes more and more relevant with age.
"Think before you speak." A platitude that is well-worth understanding.
"Write code as if the one who takes over is a psychopath who knows your address."
Bad. Corona is massively back.
People are inviting me out to meet up. They just don't care anymore. I've done so well to isolate myself for over 7 months, and for nothing, apparently.
Is Germany shutting down?
In my country there are 10x more cases compared with last month.
I looked into Zig today but even the HelloWorld changes in each version because they can't decide on the naming. Sorry, I have to wait for the 1.0 then.
Zig tries to be an alternative to C which is daunting, to say the least. I want to experiment with Zig to sharpen low level skills.
I'd like to get into systems programming, but all the options seem so daunting to a JavaScript user such as myself. :(
Yesterday I stumbled over a typing competition in the US from 2010. The winner managed to type 163 words per minute on average! I'd be happy about half of that.
100-120 wpm is fairly "easily" achievable before the return on investment from practicing drops precipitously. I say this as a Typeracer stan.
holy shit, i can sometimes hit something in the 90s if it's a good day
Wow thats a lot. I only manage 70 wpm.
Tiying up my social networks, trying to disappear from the internet, I came across this site. I last posted here years ago, nice to see it's stil here!
It had a bit of a surge a few months ago when it got posted to Tildes and Hacker News :) it seems that the majority of those who joined (myself included) have dropped off, though.
Welcome back! This used to be known as Sublevel and then shut down for a while. It was brought back as Sublevel several months ago (I think it's been that long I'm losing track of time, lol)
Hello! I like this corner of the internet, interesting people; considerate replies; food for thought.
I joined here after seeing this site listed on 250kb.net
Are you all using fraidyc.at ?
I just started. Is there something I don't? Don't know whether you intended to sound so ominous. :-D
I tried it briefly last month, and thought the format was refreshing. However, I reverted to Inoreader as I find it more powerful. I would like to switch to a more minimal RSS reader that does not require a browser addon, however.
I was looking for an RSS reader for a specific blog, and my first reaction was to search on subreply. So I saw your post and I just started using it. However I never used RSS feed before and I don't really what I could use fraidycat for, except for this particular blog.
what are some options excluding TypeScript and Flow for type-checking a Node project?
I'm honestly not sure there are any except using a cross-compiled language. Almost everything is nowadays compiling to WASM. But there are other languages that compile directly to Javascript as well. For example dart.dev
Location can be in Country or City, Country format. Birthday can now be in any of following formats: YYYY, YYYY-MM or YYYY-MM-DD. Both fields can be used to find people.
Evidently, the system deems my city invalid.
