☕ David Antoine Tens of millions of iPhone (5, 5C) will apparently NOT receive the next 10.3.2 update, because... 32 bits is out. forbes.com/sites/g...
👽 Paul Webb Sigh...tech writers on sites like Forbes have a bad habit of making things doom and gloom. "Apple is no longer guaranteeing support throughout a full iOS generation. It can in fact be cut off at any time..." Um, duh. Any company can cut off support for anything at any time, just look at Google's software. Notably, the author doesn't mention AFS (Apple File System). It's not designed for 32-bit phones. APS is replacing HFS+. The blatant fear-mongering is annoying and shows off the laziness of said author.

Mark Dain Do you know if 32-bit phones are running HFS+?

👽 Paul Webb Not for certain but APS is built with 64-bit in mind. It's like trying to run a 64-bit app on 32-bit Windows 7. Doesn't work. The other way around, 32-bit apps on a 64-bit system, does work though.

Bugabinga I wonder. Is it laziness, or feeding into the demand...

☕ David Antoine I would vote for the latter...

Kodo i wish i could 'retweet' here :P
👽 Paul Webb Haha! That would be neat.
☕ David Antoine True that ! I forgot about AFS also. I suppose Apple could still push specific security updates for those phones, like a 10.3.1.x branch...

👽 Paul Webb Absolutely, and they most likely will. They were supporting the iPhone 4 for way too long IMO but hey, long support periods are great for customers.
