Martijn I am thinking of getting a camera for my birthday. Nothing too fancy, just a point'n'shoot that gets better zoom than my phone. Anyone have any tips? Brands? Specs?

🦿 Lucian Marin If I were you, I would upgrade my smartphone to Nexus 5X to get a nice camera and the best of Android.

Martijn I am mostly interested in buying a separate camera to gain the advantage of optical zoom. I think no smartphone would be able to compare. The 5X costs what, around $500? I have a hard time imagining it beating any of the cameras available around that price point.
