Mark Dain I'm thinking of getting a laptop running Linux, possibly a ThinkPad (although I don't like Lenovo). Any suggestions? I'd like 16 GB RAM, 256+ GB SSD, Core Boot, HDMI, Ethernet. Willing to sacrifice the last 3 if needed

Martijn Even after the Lenovo Superfish spyware discussion we had here on the website? (cc. )

🦿 Lucian Marin Even Apple messes up, but I still use some of their products because there's no alternative. The only alternative to ThinkPads are other Lenovo laptops.

Mark Dain I don't trust Lenovo because of Superfish but there's very little choice. ThinkPads are the only real competitor to the MacBook; they're both given out by companies like Google; you get one or the other with the ThinkPad running Linux. While I don't trust their software (clean install anyway, right?) their hardware appears to be trustworthy; e.g. you can choose to not have a webcam on your ThinkPad which I like a lot. /cc

Mark Dain This looks great as a MacBook Air replacement although I'd like Ethernet. I might have to compromise on that...
