😀 Tom I have a Pixel 5, and the battery appears to be expanding. I'll probably also look into battery replacement and just keep the device as a backup.
🦿 Lucian Marin I have a Pixel 5 as well. Last summer it costed me 275 euros to replace the screen. I'm waiting for Pixel 7a, 8 or 8a to replace it.

😀 Tom That sucks. I use a thin TPU case, a 9h glass screen protector, and a Pop Socket for my phone which has saved it from a lot of drops and prevented many more. Right now my phone won't fit in the case until I swap the battery. I know someone that had a destroyed phone screen, and I recommended they get a 9h glass screen protector once they get a new phone. That person did not heed my advice, and shortly thereafter, their new phone had a broken screen. Glass screen protectors are nice, plastic screen protectors are garbage, and plastic screen protectors do not protect the glass from shock when the phone falls and hits the ground.

🦿 Lucian Marin I wish I got a Pixel 6a instead of paying that repair price, maybe you should do that same. I thought the camera is the same as on Pixel 5, but Tensor 2 has a better image processing engine. Pixel 6a has the best camera on the market according to MKBHD and DXOMARK. I never use cases or screen protectors. My previous two smartphones where rock solid: iPhone 4S and Sony XZ1 Compact. It fall out of my pocket so I got new shorts with zipped pockets.

😀 Tom The kit is $50 USD, and it will get OS updates for another year, and I think security updates for another 2 years after that (and I can get OS updates if I go with something like CaylxOS). I will keep my eye out for Pixel 8, and hopefully they'll come out with a device that's no bigger than the Pixel 5 is. I want to use my phone one-handed! Why can't they make a "small" (normal size) phone!?

🦿 Lucian Marin Pixel 5 works best with 432 dp set as smallest width in developer options and Zenit launcher.
