Eric Still can't bring myself to like Material Design.

Adam Douglas Yeah, me neither. A design language is good and I think Google is doing the right thing by having such a comprehensive (if try-hard) style guide, but the problem is that it's not just Google's style, it's being adopted and even advocated for general use all over the place. I would hate to live in a world where everything was material design, just as I'd hate a world where everything looked like OS X Yosemite/iOS8. I do prefer the latter Apple styles to Google's material design, but variety is the key.

Martijn I actually like it. Google has been moving their web products to use Material Design with quite some success. They are easy to navigate, look clean, and load quickly. A good example is the new Google Photos at photos.google.com.

🦿 Lucian Marin Material Design is built for huge phones like Nexus 6, not for small phones like normal people use. I can't see any metrics in their specs which leads me to believe they didn't done any research in this regard.
