Eric There's plenty of advertising hoping to aid those with depression, but all the while our public transport is coated with rather depressing guilt tripping adverts for charities and fear building posters reminding you of the ever present threat of cancer, diabetes and and violence. It's all in a good causes name but I'm sure such advertising must have a detrimental effect sometimes. For instance I'm sat across from a poster displaying a dead girls feet; "Lucy's not homeless anymore."

Mark Dain I tend to try and avoid looking at adverts for this reason. I also get the same feeling from the news which is why I rarely watch it -- any big / uplifting news (especially about technology) will eventually reach me.

Martijn I think the issue you are having can be summed up like so: they are showing you the problem instead of the solution. You would be much more likely to put money towards a solution, but they try to guild you into putting money against a problem.
