@lucian there used to be an about page, right? where we could see which programming language has been used in subreply. by the way, it's Django, right?

I'm trying to improve my programming skills, what "exercises" would you recommend ? I tried to make some side projects but I have no idea to exploit... Bonus point if I can do it offline, during my train commute.

Try to rewrite projects you find on GitHub in a different programming language. I coded an alternative to GoAccess in Python and got plenty of stars.

One reason I come back here is because this entire site loads in less than 130ms. It's just so refreshing, and that's even with the actual host being 15ms away.

And they told me that Python is the slowest programming language and PostgreSQL has the slowest database connections.

Anyone try GitHub Autopilot? I am mostly a .net programmer so I don't know if they support that yet but I can't really imagine programming with it. I guess I like having more control over my code and design but I could easily see me changing opinion on this over time.. thoughts?

The attempt to get physicists to use constructor theory has the same energy as the push towards geometric algebra in the gaming industry. There's an analog with functional programming here too, does not imply the same dynamics however

Watching 'the dawn wall' while programming tonight, an excellent movie on process, for those that enjoy that sort of thing. edit: it's about climbing el capitan

Absolutely, but my personal constraint is that I'm not satisfied understanding a lot about one, or mostly one, thing. Moreover, if the quality of thought at all reflects in the amount of money returned, it seems imperative, to me, that I should improve the quality of my thoughts by reading. Ouroboros all the way down.

Read more, let the programming come to you. Reading is always good

Sometimes there's no way. One thing that helps me is I keep track of what I'm doing over time. I wrote an article about that a while back: jeandavidmoisan.co... It's so easy to take yourself for granted and forget all that you went through to reach your current state.

What project are you all working on these days?

I should do more work on my multilingual raytracing project. Also, for the last 6 months I've been playing with the idea of trying a bit of game development. Through that I can do programming, and art, and music, which are all individually things that I want to practice.
