Ritardando Further, the reason sites like Gab and Parler were a race to the bottom was because moderators won't take personal ownership and feel they need policies and rules, but when you make something, you don't need that shit, it's yours and people are lucky to fucking use it. Someone crosses the line, you make an example. Far right/left people only proliferate under weak leadership.

🦄 Chip Uni All of those, honestly. I'm trying to guess when this crisis will be over in the United States.
Chris Space Frankly, looking in from outside, it'll either be over when you get some leadership because right now there's a leadership vacuum or, when there's a vaccine/everyone has had it and either died or not.

Mark Dain Can you elaborate on "the way things are going"? I've never been worried about the current administration. It seems nobody ever asks me how I feel, they just assert I'll be making a mistake if I move as they don't like the president. I can't change what my dream is, all I can do is either ignore/suppress it and feel unauthentic and miserable or fight to accomplish it and at the very least be glad I tried.
👽 Paul Webb As much as I dislike virtually everything about the current president, I like that his racist travel bans were blocked by the Supreme Court. Cooler heads prevail so even though leadership is fucked, the checks and balances that ensure things don't implode are still rocking.

Eric gregfallis.com/201... "With Fearless Girl is a bronze plaque that reads: Know the power of women in leadership. SHE makes a difference. It's not referring to the girl; it's referring to the NASDAQ symbol. It's not a work of guerrilla art; it's an extremely clever advertising. I love the little statue of the girl in the Peter Pan pose. And I resent that she's a marketing tool. I love that she actually IS inspiring to young women and girls. And I resent that she's a fraud. I love that she exists. And I resent the reasons she was created."
Mark Dain I don't like how that statue is there just because of Charging Bull, which is a work of art
Anishcharith Well, someone could make a statue of a Bear and this bull facing opposite to where it is facing now (guarding the girl), against the bear. Everything would then make a better sense with the girl having her trust on the bull against the bear. But then the SHE wouldn't really have much significance, it might as well be a boy.
☕ David Antoine Interesting article, didn't know about the real meaning of the bull, just like the majority of people I guess. That's probably why they have done it that way, using the "clean slate" of people ignorance about the statues to attach or induce the meaning they wanted to the little girl and by opposition to the bull, in regards to the actual social context. Women against patriarchy more so than citizens against corporate finance. We can probably look at that marketing move in different ways. Like, why not, a future greedy girl against the American people... Good marketing indeed.

🦿 Lucian Marin OK, Microsoft, maybe now I'm listening. SSH from PowerShell (blogs.msdn.com/b/l...) on Windows 10 is a good call. Surface tablets are looking more and more appealing by the day.
Mark Dain "The first attempts were during PowerShell V1 and V2 and were rejected. Given our changes in leadership and culture, we decided to give it another try and this time, because we are able to show the clear and compelling customer value, the company is very ssupportive" -- wow

Carsten Rose Wow - what a great, inspirational read ... "Old power works like a currency. It is held by few. Once gained, it is jealously guarded, and the powerful have a substantial store of it to spend. It is closed, inaccessible, and leader-driven. It downloads, and it captures. New power operates differently, like a current. It is made by many. It is open, participatory, and peer-driven. It uploads, and it distributes. Like water or electricity, it's most forceful when it surges. The goal with new power is not to hoard it but to channel it." My "must read" on of the week! hbr.org/2014/12/un...
