Mark Dain I'm thinking of getting a laptop running Linux, possibly a ThinkPad (although I don't like Lenovo). Any suggestions? I'd like 16 GB RAM, 256+ GB SSD, Core Boot, HDMI, Ethernet. Willing to sacrifice the last 3 if needed

Mark Dain Probably Debian but I'll try some other distros (Elementary, Fedora), whatever works best

Mark Dain This looks great as a MacBook Air replacement although I'd like Ethernet. I might have to compromise on that...

John Olinda The T4xx laptops are very nice, although you should avoid the ones with dedicated GPUs I am told. I had one (T420) briefly and it was awesome, although it had to go back because of a defective wireless card and we didn't replace it because the CS team was so annoying. So yeah, nice laptop, annoying support. Considering getting a refurbished or used one myself when my MBP finally buys the farm.
