Mark Dain It's possible to brute force a hash, at least for the first few bits. It's known as hash cash, so the specific example of checking the first byte if it's even or odd could still be fooled by an insider. Still, great article.

Martijn They only have a minute to do that though, as the previous value is used to create the next one. It is all chained. I wonder if anyone has ever taken a month of data and just checked if the checks all pan out...
